  • A terrorist attack on the Frontier Corps (FC) headquarters in Mohmand district was successfully thwarted by security forces early on September 6, according to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR).

The incident, which could have resulted in significant damage, ended with the elimination of four suicide bombers before they could carry out their deadly mission.

ISPR reported that the attack took place in the early morning when four terrorists attempted to infiltrate the FC camp. However, the alertness and swift response of the security forces neutralized the threat, killing all four attackers before they could cause any harm.
  • The Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) of Punjab has claimed to have arrested 33 terrorists belonging to banned organizations during a series of secret operations conducted in various cities across Punjab, including Lahore.

Among those arrested are six terrorists apprehended in Lahore, including a key member of the banned Al-Qaeda. The arrests were also made in various cities, including Nankana Sahib, Bahawalpur and Sheikhupura. 

According to CTD officials, the arrested individuals from Lahore include Ayatullah, Faisal, Bakht Jamal, and Hamza. The authorities recovered a significant cache of explosive materials, weapons, hand grenades, equipment for making suicide vests, and a large sum of money from the terrorists.
  • Continuous heavy rain over the past hour has caused water levels in Nullah Leh to rise, prompting the administration to issue a pre-alert for the flood-prone areas of Katarian and Gowalmandi.

The water level in Nullah Leh has risen to 15.5 feet at Katarian and 8.75 feet at Gowalmandi, with officials warning that an alert will be issued if the water levels reach 15.7 feet in Katarian and 14.1 feet in Gowalmandi.

The heavy rainfall has resulted in a total of 36.7mm of rain being recorded across the twin cities, with specific areas seeing even higher amounts. The rain gauging centre recorded 42mm of rainfall in Golra, 27mm in Bokra, and 35mm at the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) station.

Shamsabad experienced the highest rainfall at 52mm, while kachehry recorded 20mm.

Meanwhile, Lahore has also experienced light to heavy rain in various parts of the city. Areas such as Shadman, China Chowk, Lawrence Road, Jail Road, Shah Jamal, Qurtaba Chowk, Davies Road, Mall Road, Gulberg, Firdous Market, and Barkat Market have all reported rainfall.

In response to the rain, the Punjab chief minister has issued special instructions to ensure the city’s drainage systems remain functional. The WASA Lahore managing director has instructed all staff and machinery at the Monsoon Emergency Camp to remain on full alert.

  • On the 59th Defence Day of Pakistan, Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Syed Asim Munir delivered a powerful message, paying tribute to the martyrs and reaffirming the unwavering resolve of Pakistan’s armed forces to safeguard the nation’s sovereignty.

Defence Day, observed annually on September 6, marks the victory of the Pakistani military during the 1965 war against India, a day of national pride and remembrance.

General Munir stated that the September 6 holds a “prominent position” in both national and military history. He lauded the spirit of national unity and solidarity displayed by the Pakistani people and armed forces during the war, which thwarted the enemy’s ambitions and protected the homeland.

The COAS emphasized that this same spirit of unity continues to drive the Pakistan Army in its defence of the nation’s borders.

In his message, General Munir paid homage to the martyrs who made the ultimate sacrifice to defend the country. “We salute the brave officers and men of Pakistan Army who sacrificed their lives for the motherland,” he said, highlighting the Pakistan Army’s commitment to ensuring the sanctity and protection of martyrs and their families. “Our martyrs are our top priority, and we will continue to safeguard their honour.”
  • Heirs of the Karsaz road accident victims on Friday pardoned the suspect, saying they had no objection to granting them bail in the case as the mishap was not intentional.

“Matters have been settled between us and we have pardoned the suspect. We have forgiven for Allah’s sake, who’s the most kind and most merciful,” read the affidavit that would be submitted in the court during hearing of the suspect’s plea seeking bail.
